Emerald City Comicon: An Overview

Episode:

Hey Kids, It's Ben! Yay!
Or: The Woes and Woah-That's-Freaking-Awesomes of Convention Outings!
Back from the recent Comicon on the north west coast, A3U relives our greatest triumphs and our worrisome moments of weakness for those of you who were unable to attend. Many sights were seen, many stories were shared, and through heartships untold, we fought our way here beyond the goblin city to take back the child David Bowie had stolen. (For all legal purposes it should be stated that David Bowie has never, to the best of our knowledge, stolen any children outside the realm of fantasy. Perhaps it should also be stated that we have no fantasies that correlate to such heinous acts. ...not that David Bowie is heinous...) Enough! Download and enjoy. There was much mirth and many friends to be made! Many prizes awarded and now; pods to be cast. Good Night and Good Luck.

Hey, guys, I finally managed

Hey, guys, I finally managed to load and play your podcast - iTunes is not behaving on my laptop at the moment, but oh well - and I wanted to say thanks for the really excellent shout out.

Let me know if you're ever in the area when it's not business-related so we can go hang - and once I get my passport renewed, we'll make sure to come by and hang out up there.

I'm glad everything (minus A-holes #1 and #2) worked out so well for you at the con, and I was just happy that Mike and I found a solution to the t-shirt problem.

Seriously, I know I'm not saying anything anyone on this site doesn't already know, but you guys kick some serious arse - Seriously.

And now I'm really glad I snapped that pic of the Queen of Hearts :)

Hey Ren dude! Glad you

Hey Ren dude! Glad you posted homie!

We just got back from the Crypticon 2008 also in Seattle I might add! I'm shocked Ben hasn't responded yet, but I'll go rag on him for it and I'm sure he'll post soon enough!

I hope you make it up here soon dude! But if not, you know we'll be seeing you next year!

Hey people, I was at

Hey people,

I was at Emerald city con and that's where I found out about your podcast. I'm listening to your Seattle recap as I type this and had to laugh: you mentioned running into Kirkman near the bathroom and it reminded me that someone told me to go and stalk Kirkman near the snack bar area at one point where they had run into him when they heard me whining about not seeing him anywhere by later on Saturday afternoon ( yeah, stalking - not really my thing, y'know? ).

A couple of other things:

*the Queen of Hearts lady was promoting the Alice in Wonderland comic (I saw her standing around bored at her table at some point)

* Willingham doing sketches? You people are making me feel old, here! Before he became known as a writer, Willingham was known for his art; he was the creator of the Elementals comic in the eighties, as well as a guest artist on comics like Green Lantern and other titles.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that at least one person in attendance at the Con made the effort to find you on the web afterwards (and I'm glad I did).

Cheers,
Stephen in Vancouver

PS, I actually thought about trying to win with my a3u card, but it was a big room and thought, 'meh, someone else is probably closer'.

PPS. I heard that the Calgary comiccon is growing bigger each year and has the organizers from Emerald city con helping them organize things - this according to a dealer at Emerald city con, so there are more options appearing.

Ben! For trying to take my

Ben! For trying to take my shout-out back, I shall destroy you!!!! Sounds like you guys had a blast. I wish I could've been there. Thanks again for the ED-209, Jonny! It's wicked! My only complaint is that it has a little trouble getting down stairs...
